Course Overview

Learn how to produce informative and eye-catching presentations.

This course is designed to equip the new user with a full understanding of the functions and features of Microsoft PowerPoint. Users will be taken step-by-step through the process of creating a slideshow and presentation material. Features covered include text input and
editing, use of text proofing tools, creating/editing drawings and importing graphics, creating graphs, setting up a slideshow (with special effects) and printing slides and handouts.

This is a one-day course running from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Training is hands-on and tutor-led.
We provide a comprehensive training manual, lunch and certification.
Courses run at both Swansea and Cardiff locations.

This course can be run as a company specific option either at your site or our own.

  • Course Content

    Getting Started

    The PowerPoint screen - ribbons, toolbars, scroll
    bar, menus, viewing modes. Opening, closing and saving your work. Accessing online help.

    Masters & Templates

    Understanding and changing PowerPoint Master
    slide layouts and selecting/modifying templates
    (colour schemes/designs, backgrounds and themes).

    Adding Text

    Adding text to a slide, selecting objects and
    formatting text.

    Bullets

    Using bulleted lists in a presentation.

    Drawing Tools/Clipart

    Using PowerPoint's drawing facilities to enhance a
    slide and adding pre-drawn pictures (ClipArt).

    Graphing

    Creating and modifying graphs (charts) to illustrate
    data.

    Text Editing

    Improving the appearance of text in a slide and use
    of Microsoft's 'WordArt' feature.

    Proofing

    Using spell check and find and replace facilities.

    Slide Shows / Printing

    Setting up a slide show with a variety of special
    effects and examining PowerPoint's print options.

    Consolidation Exercise

    A practical exercise to review and practice all the features covered in the course.

  • Prerequisites

    To gain the maximum benefit from this course an attendee should have a basic knowledge of Windows and be able to use the mouse.

  • Qualification

    This course covers material from the standard European Computer Driving Licence (Module 6), contributes to the ITQ level 2 / ECDL Extra qualification and the Microsoft Office Specialist Core PowerPoint syllabus.

    Improve your use of PowerPoint by designing custom templates and integrating the package with Word and Excel.
