ECDL - 7 modules

The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) is the internationally recognised qualification for computer users. ECDL improves learners' understanding of computers and promotes efficient use of software. The course opens up a variety of opportunities through the broad range of skills it provides. The qualification is widely recognised by employers as proof of ability and competence when working with IT.

This qualification can be gained in a classroom environment or online.

Qualifications Details

Allows the learner to gain knowledge and experience in key areas of IT use

ECDL is a Europe-wide recognised qualification in IT. The qualification proves competency in a wide range of computer skills areas. It provides the individual with an up-to-date and professionally recognised qualification and offers the employer an ensured standard level of training in modern technology and its uses.

The qualification is made up of seven core units that are each examined by a 45-minute test. Delegates may wish to concentrate on certain elements or aim to achieve the whole qualification.

New delegates will be enrolled on the most up to date qualification - syllabus 5. 

IT user fundamentals
Builds the learner’s confidence by teaching basic interaction with computers, from start-up to productive use and basic computer housekeeping.

Using email and the internet
Helps the learner understand how to use internet and email in a safe and secure way, explaining key terms and developing fundamental knowledge of computer security.

Security for IT users
Provides the learner with an essential understanding of how to use a computer in a safe and secure manner, protecting their own data as well as that of other users.

Word processing
Helps the learner use a range of basic word processing software tools and techniques to produce appropriate, straightforward or routine documents.

Spreadsheet software
Enables learners to use a range of basic spreadsheet software tools and techniques to produce spreadsheets.

Presentation software
Provides the skills to use a range of basic presentation software tools. Learners will be able to create text based or diagram based slide shows and lecture notes.

Database software
Introduces learners to basic database software tools, enabling them to enter information, set up single tables and retrieve information by running database queries.

If you feel confident enough to sit a test you may book a slot on one of our scheduled testing days. However, if there are areas you wish to study we can advise you of the appropriate course on our commercial list.

Each test costs £30 + VAT per test and registration is £40 + VAT.
