Course Overview

Build on your Access skills to develop a relational database.

This course aims to familiarise the experienced user with the more advanced features of Access. The content includes the design, creation and maintenance of linked (relational) database systems. Delegates should already be able to create and use basic database systems with confidence and be fully conversant with all of the topics covered in our Level 1
course.

This is a one-day course running from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Training is hands-on and tutor-led.
We provide a comprehensive training manual, lunch and certification.
Courses run at both Swansea and Cardiff locations.

This course can be run as a company specific option either at your site or our own.

  • Course Content

    Table Relationships

    What is a relational database? Types of relationship;
    creating and editing relationships; using related data.

    Further Query Options

    Action queries; changing field properties; creating
    cross-tab queries; multi-table queries.

    Design Tools and Skills

    Choosing a style for your design; the field list; design
    view toolbars and toolbox; changing the font, colour and
    borders.

    Sections, Headers and Footers

    Form sections; report sections; adding and removing
    headers and footers; sorting and grouping; calculated
    fields.

    Adding Your Own Controls

    Adding labels; text boxes; option groups; toggle
    buttons; option buttons; boxes; combo boxes & list
    boxes.

  • Prerequisites

    To gain maximum benefit from this course, delegates should have attended our Level 1 course, or demonstrate familiarity with the basic concepts of Access.

  • Qualification

    This course covers material from the Standard and Advanced European Computer Driving Licence (Module 5, contributes towards an ITQ level 2 qualification and the Microsoft Office Specialist Core Access syllabus.

  • Access Level 3
    Make your database more effective by developing a macro-based greetings menu. Perform advanced calculations in forms and reports. Improve your security by setting passwords.
