Course Overview

Become a Publisher expert.

Explore the advanced features of Publisher including templates and styles, working with graphics and precise spacing positioning.

This is a one-day course running from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Training is hands-on and tutor-led.
We provide a comprehensive training manual, lunch and certification.
Courses run at both Swansea and Cardiff locations.

This course can be run as a company specific option either at your site or our own.

  • Course Content

    General Review

    Review of level 1 material.

    Styles

    Working with styles: creating a new style from an
    existing format and creating a new style from scratch.
    Applying styles: modifying styles and updating the
    publication.

    Templates

    Designing templates. Creating a template. Using a template and modifying a template

    Enhancing the Publication

    Working with bullet and number lists. Inserting a symbols. Working with lines and arrows.

    Spacing your Publication

    Working with objects. Adjusting vertical spacing. Nudging objects. Snapping objects to ruler marks, guides and other objects.

    Text Spacing

    Refining spacing. Adjusting tracking. Adjusting
    kerning. Placing text. Breaking lines. Working with spaces and hyphenation.

    Working with Graphics

    Manipulating graphics. Wrapping text around a
    graphic. Creating a custom text wrap. Layering
    graphics and text. Making an object transparent or
    opaque. Creating watermarks.

    Importing Objects

    Importing objects. Inserting objects created in other applications.

    Using Colour Effectively

    Adding full colour effects. Colouring text. Applying
    tints and shading to text. Colouring objects.
    Colour schemes. Applying patterns or gradients.
    Applying patterns or gradients. Creating colour
    bleeds. Applying shades of grey. Working with
    photos and scanned images.

    Printing Options

    Using a printing service. Understanding colour printing processes. Setting up the publication for outside printing.

  • Prerequisites

    To gain the maximum benefit from this course, an attendee should have a basic knowledge of Publisher and be able to use the mouse.

  • Qualification

    Delegates receive a Computeraid certificate of attendance.

  • Word Level 2
    Learn how to produce professional documents. Work with columns, pictures, and tables. Understand Mail merge using form letters and labels.
