Course Overview

There's more to Outlook than just emailing! Gain an understanding of Microsoft Outlook a business and personal e-mail management tool with calendar software to help you stay in touch.

This course is designed to familiarise the inexperienced user with the basic concepts of
Microsoft's e-mail and scheduling programme. The day will cover all the basic principles of e-mail, e.g. composing, addressing, filing and deleting messages. The course examines maintaining contacts, keeping appointments and organising meetings. You will learn about assigning tasks, keeping a journal (both manually and automatically) and using Outlook to make notes.

This is a one-day course running from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Training is hands-on and tutor-led.
We provide a comprehensive training manual, lunch and certification.
Courses run at both Swansea and Cardiff locations.
This course can be run as a company specific option either at your site or our own.

  • Course Content

    Getting Started

    The Outlook screen: the Outlook bar; ribbons, toolbars and menus; getting help.

    Mail Messages

    Composing and sending messages; addressing
    messages; reading the mail; replying to messages;
    assigning levels of importance; printing and deleting messages. Using views with messages to sort and find particular items.

    Contacts

    Creating and using contacts; assigning categories to
    contacts and amending contacts' details; sending
    messages to contacts.

    Appointments

    Entering and amending appointments and events.

    Meetings

    Planning meetings; using Auto Pick to find free time; inviting others to a meeting.

    Tasks

    Assigning tasks for yourself and others.

    Journals

    Keeping a record of your activities.

    Notes

    Creating, amending and converting notes.

    Archives

    Creating an Archive for old items.

  • Prerequisites

    To gain the maximum benefit from this course an attendee should have a basic knowledge of Windows and be able to use the mouse.

  • Qualification

    This course covers material from the standard European Computer Driving Licence (Module 7, contributes towards the ITQ level 1 / ECDL Essentials qualification and the Microsoft Office Specialist Core Outlook syllabus.
