Intermediate Word – Course Objectives

This hands-on, tutor-led Intermediate Word course – level 2 is designed to equip the user with a proficient grasp of Word.  The day will include an overview of commands covered on the Introduction to Word – level 1 course, followed by an in-depth look at other word-processing features such as automatic formatting, columns, creating tables and using graphics to enhance a document. Delegates will learn how to structure a mail merge from a variety of data sources.

 

Intermediate Word – Course Contents

 General Review

General review of existing knowledge and commands covered in the Introduction to Word – level 1 course.

AutoFormat

Automatically format text including style sets and themes.

Columns

Creating and working with columns.

Mail Merge

Creating a standard letter and merging names and addresses.

 Publishing with Word

Desktop publishing enhancements available in Word.

Borders and Graphics

Adding and formatting borders around text, inserting pictures, photographs, online images and text boxes and use of the Word drawing tools.

Tables

Creating tables, structuring, modifying and using calculations.

WordArt

Word’s text shaping facility.

AutoCorrect and AutoText

Automatic correction of common misspellings and use of this facility to expand upon abbreviations.

 

Intermediate Word – Course Details         

This is a one-day Intermediate Word course running from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm. Courses run in Swansea and onsite.

Prerequisites

To gain the maximum benefit from this course, an attendee should have attended our Introduction to Word –  Level 1 course, or have an equivalent understanding of basic text entry and enhancement.

Qualification

This course covers material from the standard International Computer Driving Licence (Module 3) and the Microsoft Office Specialist Core Word syllabus.

What Next? Advanced Word  – level 3

Learn how to customise Word to your specifications.  Work with long documents, creating tables of contents, templates, styles, footnotes and endnotes, form fields and macros.
